Meet the Fipl doctor panel
Good intentions aren't a credential.
The Fipl Advisory Panel brings together doctors from different specialties who share one important thing: working with children every day. They've vetted and approved our Fipl formulas, and help us create resources for parents raising kids through the in-between years.
A quick introduction
Each one is here for a different reason
Dr. Caryn Cassidy
Board Certified Pediatrician, MD FAAP
Sees the same kids year after year, which means she knows what a daily routine actually survives.
Dr. Lisa Stern
Board Certified Pediatrician, MD FAAP
Works with families all the way through puberty, when hair changes fast and kids start insisting on doing it themselves.
Dr. Kathleen Suozzi
Board Certified Dermatologist & Dermatologic Surgeon
Studies what skin holds onto over a lifetime, and how much of that starts in childhood.
Dr. Jonathan Koenig
Board Certified Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon & Sports Medicine Specialist
Spends his days with young athletes: the sweat, the helmets, the chlorine, the shower after practice that gets skipped.
Dr. Caryn Cassidy
Board Certified Pediatrician, MD FAAP
She started college as a business economics major. A love of science, and a want to give something back, moved her into medicine. Pediatrics came naturally after that: she likes kids, and the joy and resilience they carry around with them. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband, two daughters, a mini Australian shepherd.
- Undergraduate, UCLA
- MD, USC Keck School of Medicine
- Pediatric residency, Children's Hospital Los Angeles
- Tenth Street Pediatrics, Los Angeles, since 2017
- Board Certified Pediatrician, FAAP
The everyday routine, ages four to twelve. Cassidy sees the same children year after year, through every stage of the range Fipl is built for. She's the one who tells us when something works in theory and falls apart in an actual bathroom on an actual Tuesday.
Dr. Lisa Stern
Board Certified Pediatrician, MD FAAP
Her childhood plan was to be an Olympic figure skater. She never made the Olympics, but the years in the gym gave her the discipline that got her through medical school instead. She arrived at Children's Hospital Los Angeles from New York in 1988 with two suitcases and a rarely used driver's license. She raised two daughters who at times felt like her own pediatric lab rats. They survived.
- Pediatric residency, Children's Hospital Los Angeles
- Fellowship, UCLA
- Practiced with Dr. Harvey Karp, Santa Monica
- Tenth Street Pediatrics, Los Angeles
- Board Certified Pediatrician, FAAP
Puberty, scalps, and handing the shower over. Stern's interests include the gut biome's role in overall health and guiding adolescents from puberty into young adulthood. She's here for the years when hair changes fast and a parent stops being the one holding the bottle.
Dr. Kathleen Suozzi
Board Certified Dermatologist & Dermatologic Surgeon
Preventing and reversing sun damage has become a passion. In her care and her research she sees how sun exposure leads to skin cancers and ages skin prematurely. She treats skin cancer with Mohs surgery, removing cancer cells layer by layer while preserving healthy tissue, and trained in dermatologic surgery at Yale.
- Dermatologic surgery training, Yale
- Mohs micrographic surgery
- Yale School of Medicine
- Board Certified Dermatologist
- Board Certified Dermatologic Surgeon
People accumulate sun damage over a lifetime, starting in childhood. I frequently hear from patients that they were not aware of the risks of sun exposure during their youth. But it is never too late to start protecting your skin from UV damage.
Dr. Jonathan Koenig
Board Certified Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon & Sports Medicine Specialist
He was a tri-sport athlete on Long Island and played varsity lacrosse at Yale. He specializes in children and young adults, though he's happy to help any patient who still feels young at heart. As a former athlete and an orthopaedic patient himself, he has a personal read on the care he gives.
- Yale University
- MD, Albert Einstein College of Medicine
- Orthopaedic residency, Lenox Hill Hospital
- Fellowship-trained, pediatric orthopaedics and sports medicine
- Los Angeles Pediatric Orthopaedics, Brentwood
Kids who don't sit still. Koenig's patients are young athletes, which makes him the panel's expert on the part of the day nobody photographs: the sweat, the helmet hair, the chlorine, the shower after practice that gets skipped entirely.
